In my opinion i do not think that jim is a minsteral. I believe that jim is mark twains idea of how a slave was in that time and place. I dont believe that Mark twain was trying to write about jim as a minstrel but only as an uneducated black slave. Many people will argue this by saying that black people arent like that but the truth of the matter is a that mark twain was writing about a black run away slave that he made up. Not once did he imply that jim was a real person and a true dipiction of how all black people were in that time.Jim was just Marks Twains interpretation of how he thought black slaves were in his time.

ReplyDeletemaybe Jim is not a minstrel, but he might have some of the characteristics of one, for example minstrel's song's lyrics told stories about real or imaginary events and Jim did too. You've brought i good point, and I think we will understand it better as we get to the end of the book.
